Stella Maria Baer
Earth Pigment Watercolor Making

The workshop that started my natural color making journey, 2-days with Stella Maria Baer at her ranch, Moon Horse Ranch, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. With her as a teacher, we learned how to make watercolor paints from dirt and rocks, most of which was collected on site. Amidst the company of an amazing group of people from all over the country, we practiced how to gather, grind, levigate, mix and mull artists grade watercolor paints. It was such an impactful experience, connecting with nature in a way I hadn’t before….and I’ll never look at a rock the same way again.
